Vom Realen zum Imaginären und vom Materiellen zum Immateriellen, in meiner Arbeit erkunde ich diese Grenzbereiche. Ich rekonstruiere Traumsequenzen, wodurch neue, vielschichtige Assoziationen entstehen, die über eine bloß analytische Betrachtung hinausgehen. Die Arbeit verweilt fließend in den Übergängen und lädt ein, diese Grenzbereiche selbst zu erkunden.
In »Liebe geht durch den Magen« dreht sich alles um die Verbindung zwischen Identität und Essen. Die Serie folgt jungen Menschen mit internationaler Herkunft, während sie ihre kulinarische Reise teilen. Jede Episode begleitet die Moderatorin zu den Protagonist*innen nach Hause, die Einblicke in ihr Leben geben.Gemeinsam gehen sie einkaufen und kochen. Die Serie feiert die kulturelle Vielfalt, betont die Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen Menschen und hebt die Bedeutung von Essen als Brücke zwischen Kulturen hervor. Sie regt zum Nachdenken über Zuhausesein und Herkunft an und fördert das Verständnis in einer globalisierten Welt.
Unraveling City Narratives through Aural Exploration and Media Aesthetic
Abstract
Muted Echoes is an immersive exhibition that explores the role of sound and silence in shaping cultural identity, highlighting the subtle yet powerful ways soundscapes define our understanding of place and community. Central to this exploration is the sound installation Echoes of Distinction, which captures the unique sonic identities of Vilafamés, Spain, and Groß-Umstadt, Germany, during their local festivals. Using field recordings from the Fiestas Patronales and Winzerfest, this piece delves into how the auditory environments of these villages reflect their cultural histories and shape collective memory. In Echoes of Distinction, listeners are invited to journey through the rich acoustic landscapes of these two towns. The sounds of animals, traditional music, and lively processions in Vilafamés contrast with the clinking of wine glasses, festive music, and communal gatherings of Gross-Umstadt, underscoring the cultural specificity of each place. Despite their differences, these soundscapes share a common thread: the role of festivals in bringing communities together, preserving tradition, and expressing cultural identity. Presented within the unique atmosphere of zimmer acht & zwanzig in Gross-Umstadt, this installation highlights the dynamic interaction between shared auditory elements and the unique characteristics that make each place distinct. Through this auditory experience, Echoes of Distinction emphasizes the interplay of tradition, community, and cultural diversity, encouraging reflection on how sound shapes our perception of both personal and collective identities.
This documentary delves into the pervasive impact of racism within the German prison system, unfolding through the compelling narrative of Ahmad, a young Syrian refugee sentenced to five and a half years upon his arrival. The project originated in the filmmaker’s third semester, driven by a fervent desire to illuminate Ahmad’s experiences. Initial hesitations arose due to Ahmad’s incarceration, necessitating extensive efforts to secure permissions for prison visits and filming. While colleagues raised concerns about project feasibility within academic timelines, the filmmaker temporarily set aside the idea. However, as graduation approached, a renewed commitment emerged, coinciding with Ahmad’s release from prison, reshaping the project’s vision. Ahmad’s willingness to share his prison experiences became the film’s cornerstone, propelled by the filmmaker’s encouragement during prison visits. This shared commitment fueled the filmmaker’s motivation to achieve what initially seemed unattainable. The documentary follows Ahmad’s journey – from seeking asylum in Germany to a lengthy prison sentence. It unveils Ahmad’s struggle for survival behind bars and explores the challenges he faces post-release: the quest for social integration, career prospects, and the constant fear of deportation.

It emphasizes the issue’s significance for both individual protagonists and society as a whole, aiming to contribute to a broader dialogue on racism within the German prison system.
In der heutigen globalisierten Welt sind viele Länder miteinander verbunden, indem sie Waren importieren und exportieren. Es gibt viele Länder, die Waren und Rohstoffe aus Entwicklungs- und unterentwickelten Ländern importieren. Billige Arbeitskräfte sind einer der Hauptgründe dafür. Deutschland und die EU importieren viel Kleidung aus Bangladesch. Einerseits erhält Bangladesch viele wirtschaftliche Vorteile durch den Export von Konfektionskleidung an deutsche und europäische Marken, andererseits ist billige Arbeitskraft auch verantwortlich für die Gesundheitsprobleme der Frauen in Bangladesch. Meine Abschlussarbeit besteht darin, interaktives Storytelling in Augmented Reality zu erstellen, bei der eine Arbeiterin namens Maja ihre Träume und Schmerzen mit Ihnen teilt – mit der Bitte, die Situation zu verbessern.
»Souvenir of Absence (Good Night, Good Morning, Good Night)« searches for ways of narrating, describing and representing the notion of temporality, treated through appearance and disappearance of images and voices of two beings. Each person is represented through different materials, such as VHS footage from the family archive and manipulated voice recordings. On top of the grainy images are superimposed high quality sharp scenes of landscapes from a cemetery located in the south of Turkey, in the need of showing and conserving a present. While the images appear, disappear and reappear, the artist’s silent narrative shows the trajectory the several stories overlapping. What does the camera provide? While registering absence?
Rauminstallation: Projektion (Bewegtbild), Sound, Performance, Bildhauerische Elemente Länge: ca. 60 Minuten
In der multisensorischen Rauminstallation Ephemeral Encounters dienen Sound- und Videotagebücher als Übersetzungen von Sinneseindrücken. In einer Art Multimedia-Archiv laden neben einer Soundperformance, verschiedene Laborelemente (Video- und Duftlabor) in einen intimen Kosmos ein, der ein Untersuchungsfeld des Flüchtigen aufmacht. Dabei werden die gewohnte Orientierung durch visuelle Eindrücke von einer vielfältigen Wahrnehmung von Geruch und Sound durchbrochen, in der sich das Spannungsfeld zwischen Kontrollierbarem und Unkontrollierbarem verdichtet.
Saisonarbeit in Deutschland hat eine tief verwurzelte „Tradition“. Die Nutzung von Menschen aus den Ostregionen als „billige Arbeitskraft“ ebenso. Ein gängiges System mit repetitiven Strukturen, die grundlegend für die Migrations- und die damit verbundenen Arbeitsmarktpolitik sind, die seit über 150 Jahren mit immer denselben Fragen und Antworten geführt wird. Die Arbeit „Erntefrisch“ hinterfragt diese Kontinuitäten am aktuellen Beispiel von rumänischen Erdbeerpflücker_innen und setzt sie in Verbindung mit den historischen „Nutzungsmustern“ von Arbeitskräften in der Landwirtschaft. Dabei handelt es sich um einen ethnisierten Arbeitsmarktsektor, bei dem migrantische Arbeitskräfte als flexible Reserve-Armee gesehen werden und systematischer Benachteiligung sowie Diskriminierungsstrukturen unterliegen, die bis heute fortwirken.
